Why I Became a Counsellor

I’ve always been drawn to understanding the human mind – what shapes our behaviour, influences our choices and guides the way we make sense of our experiences.
A varied and extensive 25-year career largely in the South African NGO arena, deepened my curiosity about how people from different cultures, with different world views, interact and connect, ultimately leading me to study psychology.

I believe that every person is inherently deserving, and that our challenges can guide us toward healing by revealing deeper parts of ourselves. Each of us carries a uniqueness that only we can offer.

My intention is to support you in standing firmly in who you are, and to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your own strength, clarity and agency.

Qualifications

My career began in journalism, before transitioning into roles centered on individual counselling and mentoring, and community upliftment. I co-founded an NGO serving marginalised communities in Cape Town offering mindfulness and yoga initiatives to support emotional wellbeing. Over the years, my work has brought together practical individual support, community engagement, and psycho-social development. This combination allows me to help clients across diverse populations build self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect with their own inner resources.

I am a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). HPCSA Registration Number: PRC 0046019

I hold a postgraduate qualification in Mindfulness-Based Interventions from Stellenbosch University and the Institute for Mindfulness South Africa (IMISA), grounding my work in a calm, compassionate, and evidence-informed approach.
